Gmail normally stores outgoing messages in Sent only. However, you can use a filter to make your sent messages also appear in your Inbox as read emails.
Create the filter
- Open Gmail and go to Settings → See all settings.
- Select Filters and blocked addresses.
- Click Create a new filter.
- In the From field, enter your email domain—for example:
yahwho.org - Click Create filter.
- Select Never send it to Spam.
- Click Create filter again.
New messages sent from an address on that domain will now appear in both Sent and the Inbox. They are not duplicate emails: Gmail applies both the Sent and Inbox labels to the same message.
To disable this behaviour, delete the filter. Existing sent messages can be removed from the Inbox using Archive; they will remain available in Sent.
Note
This appears to be a long-standing Gmail quirk rather than a formally documented feature, so Google may change the behaviour in the future.
